Don’t spend so much time and effort on a high performance bike then skimp on the most important fluid, the Royal Purple synthetic motor oil.. There is a good chance that your biker buddy does not know the difference. It would be a good idea to first learn how to care for your motorcycle before getting your cool riding outfit.
Your motorcycle should have come with its own instruction manual, follow the instructions contained in the manual for optimum performance. If you do not have access to the manual, the chances are good that the company has posted the manual as a web site or has posted the manual in a downloadable format. A routine maintenance schedule will most likely include information on when to change motor cycle oil, brakes, transmission fluid, filters, and lubricating with motorcycle chain oil.
Using your owner’s manual, verify that you may use synthetic motorcycle oil or stick with the traditional motorcycle oil. No matter which motorcycle oil you choose to use, it is important to use the best motorcycle oil for your specific bike. If you would like to increase horsepower you will want to go with a synthetic motorcycle oil.
The procedure for giving your motorcycle an oil change are not much different, drain motorcycle oil, change filter, refill oil. Although you may be used to choosing the same oil for your motorcycle that you use in your car, make your decision based on performance and extending the life of your investment. Do not be fooled into using a low cost solution for your motorcycle engine, the damage you create may not be visible for a couple of years. The high RPM’s of the motorcycle engine require your attention for optimal lubrication, to ensure proper cooling and continued high performance. After changing the oil in your bike, be sure to check the level on a regular basis.
Motorcycles were created to be enjoyed, enjoy your ride to the fullest extent, but learn to properly take care of your engine so that you may enjoy it for many years to come. A couple extra dollars spent on quality motor oil may save you from buying another engine down the road.
